Labor Day Weekend - Lime Rock Park - Northeastern US
« on: August 08, 2014, 17:26:35 »
This is an awesome weekend event that's held at Lime Rock Park in the Litchfield Hills of Northwestern Connecticut each year. There is vintage racing on Friday, Saturday and Monday with a "Sunday in the Park" vintage car show on the track this year on August 31st. Several local Pagoda SL group members are planning to stay at near by B&B's for the weekend. Traditionally, there are BMW and Porsche corrals trackside but NO Mercedes corral's. Maybe we could change that...

Anyone interested?

I spoke with a Lime Rock Park rep on Friday and unfortunately there will not be a Mercedes car corral on the race days of Friday, Saturday and Monday next weekend BUT the good news is that there WILL be a designated Mercedes parking area on the track near Turn Two on Sunday for "Gathering of the Marques" during the Sunday in the Park event. Any pre-1975 vehicle will be allowed to park on the track you simply make it known that you want to be part of the show when you check in at the ticket gate. The  I'm hoping its a great day weather-wise and that those planning to can attend. In the event that you need it, the address for your GPS is:

Lime Rock Park
60 White Hollow Road
Lakeville, Connecticut 06039

The Sunday show opens at 10:00am on August 31st.

This morning's forecast for Sunday in NW Connecticut is Partly Sunny with a 20% Chance of Showers/Thundershowers. Still one never knows for sure. Even Mark Twain quipped "If you don’t like the weather in New England, just wait a few minutes."

So those who are planning to attend can meet us EITHER on the track in the Mercedes area on Sunday or better yet, how about meeting in the Stop & Shop supermarket parking lot near the park at 9:30am that morning? The address is:

Stop & Shop
11 East Main Street
North Canaan, CT 06018

Make sure to check out this clip if you haven't yet...

See you Sunday! We'll be there rain or shine!!

Kev,

Pretty cool event.  Maybe we need a Mercedes Classics event here in Ohio.  No 2010 roadsters welcome.

BTW, those 4 300SL's are $ 2-3 Million in a small space.

Yes Mike...Very cool. There were three 300SL Coupes (Gullwings) and three 300SL Roadsters in all. Two not pictured above are an awesome red roadster and an unbelievable dark blue Gullwing!
