Idler Arm Connections
« on: September 09, 2014, 15:39:21 »
I am re-assembling my 230SL after replacing my PS Box and I cannot recall the position in the idler arm of each tie rod.  There is a forward and a rear hole in the idler.  Does the drivers side tie rod go to the front hole or the rear hole?  It may be that I could just line them up and the difference would be obvious but I thought I'd just ask.

Thanks!

I believe the drag link is at the bottom with bolts facing up, and goes in the rear holes. The tie rods are on top with bolts facing down and are in the front holes.

I need to re-look.  My recollection is that the idler has only three holes with one being the large splined hole that mates to the PS Box on the 230SL.  I think maybe the drag link is tied instead to a tie rod itself.  If correct, my question would be which tie rod goes to which hole (front/rear).  I'll look again this evening.  Thanks very much.
