ignition ware

with key in ignition,you must jiggle to get to turn.even with new cut key.I beleve it needs to be rebuilt. who can rebuild the lock assembly and make new key at a reasonable price> Thanks,Ralph

Hello Ralph, is yours a 230SL or later? The steering lock assemblies are different.

If the key you started with is not original, it may have been cut wrong, with the results you describe. Cutting a new key out of that one will just duplicate the problem.

If you have the data card, and if your ignition barrel is original, try ordering a new key from Mercedes with the reference on the data card. It may work.

I have a 1967 230sl and am using a new key cut from the code on original key. still mad no difference,still have to lift key to turn completely to off position.any sugestions? thanks,Ralph P.S. on a different note is the turn signal lever self canceling after turn or must you turn it back? And are the reproduction turn signal assembly's as good as original and do the originals have the stinceled directions on the lever? Thanks,Ralph

I use graphite powder to lubricate the key mechanism.
