I guess others will know about this already and probably tell me it has been around for years!  Also it only really applies if you would like to convert to manual (gear shift) mode or are already a manual driver.

Have a look at what is on ebay.co.uk ---     http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Manual-6-SIX-Speed-Gearbox-Transmission-Mercedes-230sl-250sl-280sl-Pagoda-/251711514033?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a9b2ce5b1

Interesting to hear from someone that has actually done it?

It sounds simpler than changing the rear diff etc.

Probably makes no difference to someone who ambles around town or on minor roads, but on the flat main roads ...........and a bit more gear changing

They have been around for some years selling in the USA and are actually more expensive than the brand new 5 speed ZF’s that were around 8k Euro.  Have not heard of anyone here that has installed one.
