Correct vin numbers
« on: November 18, 2014, 00:35:50 »
Greetings! I'm a new member so be nice!
I have a 1967 280 Sl that Haggerty tells me is probably a 1968
my vin # is 11304412005590 - from reading the tech manual it looks like it was made in October of 1968. Is this correct? My title says 1967?

Jasp,

I believe we have always found the Tech Manual to be fairly accurate when cross-referencing VIN's. If yours is a car built for the US, I believe that an October 1968 production car would have shown a model year of 1969.

Thank you!

We have had this car for over 10 years and was previously owned since 1978 by my father in-law.

I guess I better start doing some research! Thanks again!
