Two 1971 Pagodas - Build date?
« on: December 19, 2014, 23:59:41 »
If one sees two 1971 Pagodas built in January with numbers that are 99 cars apart would it be a safe assumption that they were manufactured in the same week?  Apparently there is no source to determine the build date.

The numbers are:

     113044-12-023247

     113044-10-023346

Does anyone know approximately how many cars were produced per day as production was winding down?

Thanks
John

Hi John.

It looks like there were 557 cars built in December 1970  (22555 - 23111)
474 cars in January 1971 (23112 - 23585)
300 cars in February 1971 (23586 - 23885) (Last one on February 23)

figuring 20 working days in January - maybe 24 cars per day (??)  Guessing the cars were produced about a week apart......

As mine is 23798, this would mean that she is was produced around 16-18 February 71.

And the one with the highest number (Chris's) evidenced in the Forum Car Registry - 2 days later...

BTW, if we want to track down those things so precisely, we would have to establish whether there were 20 working ays in February 1971 or more... Back in those years in many countries Saturday was a working day, and besides - who knows - maybe Mercedes had a continuous week work rules?
