Not Northern VA, but I have found Graves Plating (gplating@aol.com) and Paul's Chrome come recommended.

I just had a lot of chrome re-plated for my 250SL in Erie PA from Advanced Custom Chrome.  In my opinion it was excellent.  They are absolutely swamped as they do a lot of work from Europe but I am very pleased.  I had the door handles, trunk handle, side chrome bars and a lot of other pieces done in 2 installments.  I wanted to see the results first before I went for the big stuff.  They are very familiar with Pagodas and are great to talk with.  They are not inexpensive and it will take time but you get what you pay for.

I believe each set took about 4 months.

Be happy to give you exact prices of some of the stuff.  You should call them and talk about the pieces.  They are pretty good at estimating the cost with emailed pictures.  Check out their website.

Dick, I know every shop needs to see how much work is involved in reparing a part for chroming before they can quote a price. We see a lot of questions about chroming and very few that give us an idea of the expense involved.  Would you be willing to share an estimated condition of your parts before the work was done and approximately what the cost was?

I have met the people in Erie PA for my 1931 Ford Roadster they go the extra step in chroming that other chromers do not.
Excellent work.

Happy to reply this snowy morning.  The pieces were not that bad.  I am trying to send some pics of before and after but it keeps kicking me out so I will try one more time.

In any event the prices for some of the pieces is as follows.  The door handles were $125 each.  The price for the hard top hold down piece was $190 each.  Hopefully the pics will follow.  Other pieces were more or less.  The large chrome strips on the side of the door (the 44 inch one) was $230 each.

Let me know what else you need.

I am going to send out all the stainless and chrome trim for my car to Spacecoast plating in FL. I read some good reviews about them and will be shipping out the trim this weekend.
