Brake Booster label position
« on: February 06, 2015, 08:09:17 »
Position of Brake Booster Label

My car originally had the label on the Brake booster as shown in the first  photo.

The second photo shows how it was positioned when it was returned after overhaul some years ago

The label I got from one of our suppliers has suggested the correct place for his lable is on the front face of the brake booster.

Anyone got the correct answer?

Hello Garry, Not sure if the labels were placed differently on the 230s but here is a photo (sorry it is so blurry) of my brake booster.

Garry,

Just took a look at my 280 SL, and the label is positioned just like it is on John's photo

Garry, I was looking through an original 230SL brochure which has pictures of an early 230SL (round steering wheel so 1963 or early 1964).  The picture of the engine bay shows the blue sticker on the brake booster in the same location and orientation as that in your second picture of your original post.

Interestingly, the picture also shows four of those rubber rubber strips along the ridge at the top of the fire wall rather than three which i think most people have, including myself (since they line up with the three bumps on the hood).

Garry,
here are photos of a brake booster in a LHD 15-May-1964 230SL. It has the blue label on the vertical front wall and another white label on the round part.
The white one is no longer readable but I doubt that it was an original sticker, looks more like a maintenance label.

Thanks Alfred, Jordan, Jon and John,

The RHD cars have a slightly different brake set up that LH ones but I have put it lower down on the outer side.  Am showing the car next weekend at the MB Concourse so I am sure I will get comment if it is wrong ::)

Cheers

Alfred,

Noticed this 230SL at Brian Peters with its label for the Brake Booster on the side of the unit. That is where I ended up putting my label.

Nice car, grossly underpriced.  :o

Since it is a 334G, one of the most beautiful and rarest color for a W113, I agree, "somewhat underpriced".
How long did it take you and cost you to find yours???  ;D
I believe the decal location is correct for a late 230SL.

Alfred,
Mine is 10 Sep 1965 so I am hoping I have got it right for the brake booster label.

Having ridden in yours some years ago and being absolutely sold on the colour, it took me three years and I travelled over 20,000km looking for the right RHD one.  It is the keeper.

Kate said I could re-model the town house to incorporate the car in a glass garage in the lounge room. Submitted plans but local Council would not allow it so I am now in the process of having the rear court of our townhouse totally re-modelled so that the Pagoda can fit into the small space and still have decking that hydraulically folds down over the car space when not in use. Unfortunately, car has become too valuable to leave in the street when I have it down there ::)
