Glue Remover for Carpet

I'm replacing the door threshold trim and I need to loosen the carpet glue so that I can access the screws on the inner trim piece.  I don't mind bending the trim pieces open to access the carpet therein, but I can't afford to ruin the carpet.  It is the original Forest Green on this '70 280SL and apparently is made of unobtainium.

I'd like to know what others have used successfully.  I found one older post that recommended Ados Glue Remover but I believe that was from NZ and I can't source it here in the U.S.   Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Try some lacquer thinner in a spritzer. Pry up one edge and spray the adhesive as you peel the carpet away.

Since I'm starting to reinstall my carpet very soon, this is a great subject.  Joe, can the Lacquer Thinner be spritzed on the square weave side of the carpet to gently dissolve and remove what looks like a dried glue spill during carpet installation back in the 1990s.  Fortunately, I didn't need glue remover to remove the carpets, but I don't really want to put the passenger door sill carpet back with an old ugly glue stain on it.  By the same token, I don't want to completely destroy that piece of carpet.

Any suggestions?  The carpet is still out of the car, so it's accessible to work on comfortably.

Never tried it that way. Not sure if it would liquefy the carpet dye or not.

Just be careful with the spritzing!! Lacquer thinner is flammable!
