Looking to (possibly) buy a w124 E320 cabrio...scouts out!

I am trying to convince SWMBO that we need a 4 seat cabriolet. I'm getting there...

I am interested in the w124 e320 cab. There are a ton of them on eBay, but I know nothing about them. (I tried to PM John Lewis but his inbox is full...).

Anyway, I just wanted to ask if any members come across a 124 for sale that they know and which is a sound car, perhaps you could PM me? I'm more interested in condition and service history than mileage,and it must be rust free, which is why I favour buying from a dry part of the US. 

Any pointers gratefully received. I obviously can't travel to view them from Germany, hence he request.

Actually, Stick, a RHD car from Arizona would be the perfect combo!! In reality, RHD is preferred, but I haven't seen many sensibly priced ones on the UK market. I have called about one or two and have been surprised at how quickly people move the price down when you start to ask a few pointed questions, but people still are a little greedy. It's for that reason that I have looked to the US market. I've imported before, so that aspect doesn't scare me.

I just bought a 2005 CLK 500 with 14200 miles with all service records.  I prefer the power and handling more than the 124 body cabrio.  It gats 22 mpg on every tank of gas so far and I have driven 1500 miles since I bought it a month ago.  The price was just under $20K.  If you just want a 4 seater I recomend a newer low mileage car...

That's amazing, but it's a bit odd, also. If someone is going to take sufficient a punt on an expensive car becoming a classic, then why buy the cheapest model? The 6 cylinder automatic is far better equipped to propel this heavy car. I don't get it. That said, it looks very nice, but I prefer the underside to the black uppers.

The search isn't going brilliantly over here. Admittedly, being in Germany doesn't help.

So to resurrect this, I'm still looking. So, if anyone knows of a good 124 cabrio out there that's in need of a new home, I'd be grateful if you'd be kind enough to point me in its direction.

I saw an interesting car today. Like so many, it was over priced for what it was. I had a really good look at the car, which had some very obvious faults (wet block near the alternator and towards the front; a lot of rust on the underside, especially the wishbones, some weird silicone here and there replacing missing bolts, etc) but despite its interesting background (from Singapore) it was not good. It also needed a new hood and liner. It did have a new loom, though.

Anyway, still looking.
