pivot rod on trans wont move it must be jammed back is there a way to deal with this other than pulling the tranny out of car ?  thanks

Can explain bit more which rod you are typing about? I tried a search to see if there was any information and did not get any helpful hits. Are all the linkage bushings okay (these tend to disintegrate over time) and are relatively easy to replace. Or the transmission mount? If that has collapsed, the transmission linkages can get bound.

If you are referring to the rod that goes from the 3 position solenoid to the transmission there should be an access plate under the carpet on the passenger side of the transmission tunnel.

Yes, remove the access cover on the tunnel Soak both ends at both pivots with penetrant.  Grab the linkage rod with vice grips through the opening and begin to move it back and fourth until it operates freely.  Occasionally, turn the ignition on and see if the rod moves when the accelerator kick down button is depressed (under the pedal). When working properly, the rod will move rearward when the engine is running at idle, it will then move to the center rest position when the accelerator pedal is slightly depressed, It will move to full forward position when kick-down is engaged. When engine and ignition is off, the linkage should move to center "rest" position.
