Paris - pagoda on street

My wife spotted this Pagoda today on the edge of Paris in Suresnes, parked on Blvd Henri Sellier ... near a retro repair/sales shop.

Great car but I would never park in Paris, it's too easy to get the car dinged up.
The car still has the old French plate ending in 75 for Paris.

You can't really see the crease in the fender at the chrome headlight surround, but if you blow it up, you can see the reflection of the crease, so it is there.
It sure looks good to me.

Beautiful Car. I am surprised a "Smart" didn't park in the space behind it! Driven in Paris a few times and always an exciting experience, especially around the Arc de Triumph. The Tunnel on the Champs-Élysées took some of the "excitement" away though Hope the owners got their car home to a nice garage safe and sound.

A week or so ago, there was smog concern in Paris (first time in my 7 years living here) and so for ONE day they only allowed Odd number plates in Paris and surrounding areas, the next day was to be Even number plates turn ... this only lasted for one day as the weather changed and all was okay.  During this ban, cars without catalytic converters were to remain off the roads.  That was it.  Not a real ban ...

However, 2 years ago, the Mayor did propose to ban "daily driving" of older vehicles, not occasional driving but daily.  This proposal died a quick death.

Kampala, you should have followed your wife and entered the shop! The name now is "Etoile Collection", they always have a selection of old Mercs for sale, including Pagodas.
Strangely enough, the show room is at sidewalk level on the boulevard, but entrance of workshop is on first floor... level with the street behind the building.

The shop Etoile Collections is very well known among the Mercedes amateurs. The owner, Mr Thierry Daguet enjoys an excellent reputation as to the quality of the cars he sells and services he offers for clients.
Currently he has a couple of vintage cars, including a Pagoda that seems to have the same color like mine (172G), but has a beautiful bordeaux upholstery that I like a lot.

And now the absolute anorak facts about this shop:
previous name was "AMS"
which in 1986 stood for Automobiles Michel S... (unreadable)
in 1992 (until april 22nd) was  Automobiles Mercedes Suresnes
and from then on  Automobiles Modernes Suresnes. That is until change to Etoile Collections.
There's been probably as many owners at this period.

Sorry to resurrect that old topic, I hadn't seen it as I don't search this part of the forum very often...
I know this shop very well, having been a customer myself for many years when I used to live in the western suburbs of Paris.
My purpose was only to warn  owners about the questionable quality of this workshop; I had some bad experience with them, and decided to have my pagoda serviced somewhere else.I know it's a bit out of topic, but I
thought this might be of some interest to parisians...

I drove past this place a week or 2 back on the way up the hill to the Hippodrome. I didn't give it another thought until I logged on here. A genuine "hole in the wall" place

It's indeed a small shop;
As stated before, the showroom is street level, and the workshop is behind on first floor level, you drive in through a backstreet...
There is room inside only for a few cars, and this is where  trouble begins! Your car will stay outside for hours, exposed to traffic and careless drivers of all kinds...
My own car has been damaged as it was parked somewhere on that street , a real nightmare...I definitely do not recommand this place! And prices are certainly excessive,as well.
In the past (i.e at least 20 years ago...) there used to be a good old mechanic there, who knew almost everything about pagodas...but he's gone for long, and the new owners seem  more interested in profit than quality work.
A real pity, anyway, as there are not many places in western Paris where you can have a 40 years old MBZ properly serviced or repaired....But I confirm, you will often find pagodas , and coupes, W111 convertibles, 190SL's...,parked in front of this shop.Only worth the photo, IMHO
