attachments for personal messages

Trying to send a message to other member but can't seem to upload attachments,

What am I missing , this is what I get when I select the insert image icon :

You can't send attachments in a PM. Ask for their e-mail address via PM and then mail them...

That is what I have been doing Peter

since there is a button insert image I though I did something wrong

That button only allows you to insert a URL link to an image stored somewhere publicly on the web… so no, you are not doing anything wrong.
