Is there a special glue to fix the inside wrap or is it just contact/rubber cement?

You need glue that can stand high temps not the regular DIY type

Go for the MB glue. We got some for the work a friend and I were doing with the heater core (foam padding etc.) and some of the vinyl around the top cover case, etc. It comes in a ~10cm round silver can with a small brush as part of the screw on top. I don't have the part number for it, and it is a bit pricey (surprise) but it works very well. I am sure someone will be able to chime in with the proper number.

Well, to offer a counter view, I've only ever used contact cement (UHU or Bostick) when I replaced my soft top. It's worked perfectly so far and my rag top has never blown away despite my short-burst attempts at the 230SL land speed record. I have no idea why you'd need a special glue, let a high temperature one or a special Mercedes glue (which won't be made by Mercedes in any case). The other good thing about contact cement is that you can clean it nicely away and, if you bugger the job up, you can pull it apart and start again.

I replaced my top on my 1998 SL500 about 5 years ago and just used Wellwood contact cement with no issues so far. You can buy the MB contact glue in the blue can but I don't think it's any better.
