Should Water Pump be replaced during coolant system rebuild

I'm planning to renew the coolant system on my '65 230SL (high miles), including radiator recore, replacing all hoses, clamps, thermostat.
I've had no issue with the water pump, but should I replace it as a preventative measure?

My suggestion is yes, particularly if your sits for extended periods.
Once you do all that renovation, you'll realize that once you get it all back together if you have to remove it all again next year, you'll kick yourself for not doing it when you had the chance...

personally I like to just do everything in a given system and put it behind me. I tend ask myself "Is this the day it dies." if I leave anything undone.

A new water pump is a cheap investment. Go for it!

After major work on an engine out of the car, ALWAYS, ALWAYS change the water pump. I have been doing that in all my engines for over 50 years.
