I removed the water pump from my 66 230SL that has a Kuhlmeister installed A/C. I took a look at the part number and found it to be 121-201-01-10 which comes back to a M180 motor. So since I just received what I thought would be the correct pump with part number 115-200-16-20, which is the long 3 hole pump for a 230SL, I measured both units to see if they were the same. I was surprised to find that the new pump is a little bit longer by about 1/16th of an inch.
I am guessing that this pump was either a replacement, although it looks to be original to the car, or it was part of a dealer installed A/C unit package.
Anyone know the origin of this water pump and why it would be on this car?
Is the new water pump the proper replacement?
