What is the approximate weight of both the engine and automatic transmission? IF it's under 500 Lbs. I can use the hoist but if more then I have to drop it down under the car.

I recommend a read here ----->
http://www.sl113.org/wiki/Engine/Overhaul
If I had this project I would also check our tech manual under
Engine
and if no one ever listed the weights then I would PM Joe Alexander or the Benz Dr. (Both I am sure have the answer at there fingertips).
Good luck
Cheers,
Dieter
