Goldpheil luggage?
« on: August 21, 2015, 22:46:45 »
Hi. I am new to this forum and it is great! A wealth of information! I am wondering did goldpheil also manufacture luggage for the pagoda? I know Hepco did.  If so was it available from a mb dealership or was it 'aftermarket'? Any help would be appreciated!! Stephen

Welcome to our Pagoda SL Group you hit the nail on the head there is indeed a lot of information available on our truly international site. Glad you found us. Why not tell us a bit about your car and post an interduction on the New Member Thread, include a picture if you can of your lcar, we like to see it.

As for the luggage, there was some time ago a fellow that made his own, he was not keen to go into business to mass manufacture. Anyway, if you Google for it I am sure you will find someone to make you a set to either fit into the trunk or behind the seats on the bench.

I came up with this ---> http://www.carryology.com/insights/travel/classic-vintage-automobile-luggage/

I am certain there is more out ther. The fellow that posted on our forum and added pictures made himself a nice set to fit behind the seats on the bench. God hunting.

Never heard the name Goldpfeil in connection with our cars, only Hepco. That's not to say they didn't manufacture fitted luggage but probably not 'factory'.

Did this eBay auction catch your attention?   ;)

It is possible that Mrs Nannen had a Pagoda and that Mr Nannen asked Goldpfeil to make a set but I sure would like to see documentation that it was "bei MB/Goldpfeil erworben", that is, bought at MB/Goldpfeil.
Goldpfeil marketed a "Caracciola Collection" and had a license agreement with Mercedes for a "Mercedes Collection" but only after 2002, at that time Mr. Nannen was already dead for 6 years.

This is a good question.  Fortunately this topic has been very interesting to a number of members.  I have searched high and low for luggage details for my '67 250 SL.  Finally I made contact with Taris Charysyn & Co.  He has been producing custom luggage for Concours quality cars for 20 years, so he was very helpful.  He never mentioned Goldpheil luggage in our lengthy discussions about HEPCO but you should give him a call.  I got his name from researching 300 SL luggage.  He did confirm that the HEPCO was similar to the Porsche luggage.  Let me know what you find out.  Taris is producing a three piece luggage set for me.
