Help on Valve Cover
« on: December 03, 2015, 20:58:06 »
Hello All, is the valve cover on a 1970 114  250 straight 6 dual carb engine, the same as used on all the Pagoda Fuel injected engines.  I know some engines had a screw on oil cap while others had a twist on.

Many thanks

No, I don't think so. You need all of the scalloped areas where the fuel injectors are located and the carbed engine doesn't have that.

Dan is correct of course.  The fuel injected engines have valve covers that are a different shape.  I think I have an extra if you need one.

Thanks Doctor and Scoot.  I thought something did not look right about that valve cover. ( A picture was emailed to me)  A friend of mine has one and wanted to know if I wanted it.  He brought it over today.  Yes the straight side would not allow for the Fuel Injection lines.  FWIW.  This 114 cover had the screw on oil cap.  The oil cap is the same as the fuel injection cover.    Screwed right on a known fuel injection valve cover I have as a spare.  I kept the Cap  :)  and thanked him.

Thank You both for your prompt reply.

The screw-on oil cap is the earlier M130 motor up to yr 1969.  After that they had the 1/2 turn caps.  FWIW the screw on caps also likely had the square combustion chambers whereas the later M130 Motors had oval ones.
