the guy in germany at KMH Rob was lovely and we sat and chatted a lot about what to do over several coffees. his advice was "if it isnt the first of anything, isnt the last of anything, or wasnt on a race track or on a rally then forget original.
it doesnt matter a hoot what you do as a total minter in a different colour, will always be a total minter.
but..
he did say that it is better to stay with something that was "of the period" so dont go paint a 230 in a 280 colour. you can but...
i followed this and ended up using the original outside car colours but changed the interior to a better matching one than the dark brown tex and went a lighter colour leather and a contrast but followed him and picked leathers that were actually an option for the period.
another interesting comment i didnt forget though. he said with small cars you can contrast all over the place with wheels, roof, carpet, door panels dash however you might feel and small cars carry it off. something they learnt years ago at MB it doesnt work with a bigger car so the factory tended to go same colour out then whatever colour in, but all the same ie all black out, all red in, all blue out, all blue in.
rarely ever mix.
anything different they tried, never sold and dealers didnt want them.
where as pagodas could come like Josephs coat and they got lapped up
russell
an interesting guy, an interesting place. anyone after a new interior i strongly suggest a short trip.
