Looking for mechanic in Coachella Valley
« on: March 28, 2016, 11:46:10 »
Hi all - I've been reading this board for a while but didn't join until I fulfilled my 40 year dream to own a W113. I have a '71 280SL auto. Because I will keep this in Palm Desert (near Palm Springs i.e. HOT) I had the original AC replaced with the rotary kit from Buddz Benz.

Besides saying hi I wanted to see if anyone knew of an independent mechanic in this area who would be good to have do work on my car. As I said, I'm in Palm Desert which is one of the cities in the Coachella Valley about 100 miles East of Los Angeles. I don't see a MB dealer as adding much value here (but adding lots of $$) so I'm hoping there is a good MB or European independent specialist people have good experiences with.

Welcome to our Pagoda SL Group, you mentioned that you have been reading a while on our site. You may have noticed that our members are extreamy helpful and that it can save you a fist full of money (as you also mentioned $$).

I recommend you click onto the Members link above, once it opens click on the heading Location the Profile data base will then sort by location. Once this is so page to your Location and see if there is someone near you with a Pagoda, he/she might then point the way to a mechanic near you. Best of luck to you.

BTW, once you been with us for a while, join us as a full member I have a great Pagoda World magazine and some window stickers for you, once you do join. Once you are a Full Member all areas of this site will open to you. Two (2) Pagoda World magazines will come your way with great stories and technical data about your car. You like many other Full Members will soon realize that the $30- membership fee will be the best investment you ever made for your Pagoda, besides your Pagoda of course :)

Happy travels always.

Cheers

Thanks Dieter - I've gone ahead and become a full member. I've also already had a problem resolved by the online manual so hard to complain!

I've seen w113's here in the desert, but no one in the register. Oh well. I've hunted down a few local shops that work on older classics, and hope to pick one out.  I plan on going to checking www.exoticcarservice.com place tomorrow. If anyone has any experience with them, I'd love to hear it. At least they have "good yelp."

Thanks a ton, and I look forward to making great use of this amazing resource.
