280SL 1968 -- Door handles

I have changed the original skay brown color of the interior for a new red leather.
Does any body has found a way to treat the handles to become red instead of the original brown?
Any special paint or other solution that would stand?

Thierry:
Remove the plastic insert, then spray it with an "adhesion promoter" and then paint with a "vinyl paint".

I just realise looking at this picture that there is not the pulling handle on the driver's side.
Is that correct?

Correct, no handle on driver side only for the passenger.

Good!
I thought I was missing both handles on one side. Just got to look only for the bigger one though!!!
Thanks.
