Yes, this is a great mod for smooth running and no more points adjusting.
Some controversy regarding whether to use a spring or not. See previous posts.

There is also a detailed article about the 123 in Pagoda Notes, Volume 3 No 4. See sticky on General Disc forum. All back issues are available to full members in the technical manual section.

I installed one years ago and could tell the engine ran noticeably smoother on it. Have not heard but positive experiences from others either, so I recommend it.

Cees,

Did you purchase the kit and install it yourself ? I'm thinking of doing it.

Alfred (66andBlue) and I installed one in his 280. It is fairly straight foreward and definately within the realm of a DIY. It is just like installing any other distributer but the only tricky part is getting the distributer housing clocked in the correct location. After that its hook up the wires and set the timing at 3000 rpm with the total advance you want. Follow the directions to set the rotary dip switch for the proper advance curve programming. Make sure to remove the old thrust coil spring from the pedestal bore before installing the distributer, some have had accelerated wear in the 123 with leaving it in.

Hi Rolf-Dieter, yes I got the kit from Van Dijk in Holland and installed it myself. Can't remember whether I left the spring in place so will have to check that one! With the instructions provided it was pretty straightforward plus there's a lot of information on this forum and in Pagoda Notes. Good luck,
