You'll find an explanation of these numbers here:
http://www.sl113.org/wiki/DataCard/VIN
and
http://www.sl113.org/wiki/DataCard/EngineNumber

According to that, the engine is from a 250 sedan

Welcome Adolfo,

'Matching numbers' is generally not considered to be important in the Pagoda world. Not having a 230 engine but, rather, a 250 engine, may detract future buyers just a bit but, if properly installed, should not make a noticeable difference in your enjoyment of the car. Replacement 230 engines are difficult to come by. If the seller had represented to you that the car was original or 'matching numbers', then you can see if you can negotiate a price reduction. But, if the car is in good condition (no rust) then I wouls not walk away just because of the engine not being original. Good luck with deciding,

Last Year I purchased a '68 280SL with a 280SE engine that passed compression test and runs very well.   My Mechanic, that specializes in 280SL's, said the good condition of the car, quarter panels with No Rust, straight body, New convertible German top, correct new square weave carpet, running condition was more important than having an original engine.   Price should be somewhat adjusted for the different engine. After showing the car at a large Regional Show in Texas, the judges confirmed my mechanic's opinions.
