This is my first time working with Bosch injection in a while but I'm comfortable with just about every carb made since WWI and tuning electronic fuel injection so this isn't my first rodeo. I'm working through a '67 230SL that was restored then sat for some amount of time; it's got fresh fuel, I cleaned the CSV and it seems to be working. I set the injection pump linkage rod to 233mm then backed off the linkage until the throttle plate was just closed.
This leaves me with a couple of questions:
1) Is there a baseline for the injection pump idle thumb screw? For instance can I turn it in all the way then out 4 turns or the like? I am turning the screw (with the engine off) and getting very minor changes per half turn but I can push the screw in almost like its way too far out and just held in by a spring?
2) The car will not hot start worth a damn; it cranks strong, hits then drops down to 2-300 rpm and recovers most of the time but if I let it sit it'll just crank endlessly until I go to 1/2 or more throttle and it'll start and run.
I did pull apart the WSD and heated then cooled the plunger, it seems to be working. Is there something else I'm missing?
