Where does thi fit
« on: June 09, 2016, 21:40:16 »
I took my 280 SL apart over a year ago, and now I am close to having it all together again however, I can't remember where thi piece belongs. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Anders

Hello Anders,

Yes, I do remember that part.
Thought always it was only used on the earlier M127 engines but no longer on the 129 and 130E engines. Well, I was wrong - I guess. :-X

Couldn't find this part anymore in the EPC - weird.
Perhaps a parts number no longer pictured in the EPC. I am too stupid to read Rushian. :o

You are right Achim. The anti-splash shield was dropped from assembly, early on in the M129 production (W108 250SE cars).
So not used in Pagoda 250SL and 280SL engines.

Many thanks, this means it must have come with the 250 sedan engine that was put into the car many years ago. Now I have replaced it with the correct 280 SL engine (about to be started for the first time after a complete renovation). Any tips or tricks on where to start adjusting if it comes to live - ignition I guess?
Many thanks again,
Anders

Remove the King lead from the coil to prevent starting then crank the engine on the starter until you get indicated oil pressure.nThen re-fit the King lead and fee her up.
