Recoating Fuel Lines and pipes in the engine bay
« on: June 15, 2016, 23:20:01 »
Hi all, I'm a new member. Over the years, I've got a lot of great information on this site.

I am interested in recoating the fuel lines, pipes and other hardware in the engine bay. My 64 is showing a good amount of corrosion. I am doing a valve job, so its the perfect time to do it.

Does anyone know what was the original coating on these metal pipes and hardware? Not sure if its galvanized, as they have an orange hue in photos of clean engines I've seen online. Also, any ideas who might recoat in northern cali. Thanks.

64, Welcome to becoming a member. Lots of great info here. The lines were originally cad plated. Yellow zinc is also a good substitute. Have a look at the thread below.

Make sure you cap the ends of the fuel injection lines.  If you plate them with the lines open you stand a very good chance of clogging the lines permanently.

Thank you for the input. Will make sure to cap the injection lines.

Cork plugs or plastic caps. Just make sure you communicate with the plater. They will have a way of doing this.
