Over the years many, many of you have helped me with my Mercedes addiction.  I got my wife drunk on the tristar also, now our 2 year old has not missed a Mercedes meet yet. We met many of you at PUB last year and some I have spoken to on numerous phone calls, emails, and we even see some of you socially.  So first I thank everyone for their help, for without all of you, I could not make the following announcement.   I have the pleasure of announcing that I, my wife, along with a Widebody W126 coupe will be on Wheeler Dealer Wednesday November 16th at 8pm CST-.  I know it is not a pagoda but it is a beautiful Mercedes coupe.  The program is aired in the USA on Velocity Channel (a division of Discovery see Wikipedia page for what channel it airs in other countries).  I have not seen any of the finished video but my wife and I agree that being on television is a feat all in its own.  I know some of you thought the only time you would see my face on Television would be in conjunction with some police blotter or mugshot, but no… we got to have a once in a lifetime experience in LA and the surrounding raceway of Willow Springs.  We experienced what making a TV episode was all about, and I hope we get to show the world what a great car the SEC Mercedes is, and what a cool a la carte company AMG pre merger was. So please watch if nothing else I know the car will look good.  Andy Warhol once said everyone gets their 15 minutes of fame.  Well ours is 1 hour and shown in 48 countries worldwide.

I watch that show all the time. It's a bit different than most in that they actually show how the repairs are done. The 126 coupe is a very nice car and I've driven many of them - my favorite was a Euro 500.

I drove a 190SLR at Willow Springs in March of  2001. Great operation they have there.

Congratulations - I don't ever watch TV but I did buy the whole set of the first 11 or so seasons and just started watching them all again, your Mike Brewer with his trusty mechanic Ed China  'to wield the spanners', I learned quite a few things watching that show. I just recently realized they started a new series again so when the time comes will have to purchase the new DVDs. How was your wife in the show, as a buyer, seller, owner of a perfect example, or?

Sorry due to a confidentiality agreement all I can say until the episode airs is the description they have on the UK Website.  I can say it is very unlike some of their other episodes.

Mercedes 500 SEC

Mike’s looking for luxury, and finds it in the most expensive car Mercedes had to offer in 1983: the 500SEC.  With the right example and the help of a passionate enthusiast, Mike locates everything he needs to transform our coupe into a beautiful AMG Wide Body Tribute. Edd exercises his magic to turn our conservative SEC into a menacing autobahn cruiser.

You will be the second member on the show.  The first time was with Tom Hanson from the Classic center.

Looking forward for next weeks show!

I've had two SECs and I still miss them to this day.  I had to sell my '87 560 SEC when my collection got out of control, then the '85 500 SEC when child seats required rear-seat access.  These will be in the same league as the 113 coupes one day, before 107s in my view.

Those guys are a blast to work with!! Funny how filming works. You shoot and reshoot for an hour for 2 minutes of fame.

My favorite line Edd gave us was on the second and subsequent takes be spontaneous but do exactly what you just did in the first take, BUT DON'T LOOK LIKE YOU ARE!

Bob,

I watch Mike and Edd all the time but I missed the episode on the 16th.  I will see if it is going to show again soon.

I am still plugging away with sheet metal on my 280SL, I started a thread just on my project about a month ago "280SL Restoration in Georgia"

I am planning on going to PUB in Virginia in Sept.
