Yes, those are correct.  Difficult to find in the states.   I bought some a while back from overseas.

Big thanks to Scott (vendor Scoot)!

Just spent a relaxing Saturday putting in my Varta 35W Yellow Fog Light bulbs

My SL has two different headlight doors one is "AC" new BOSCH OEM  with clear lower lens; and one is "AN" the clear lower lens with large inner amber-lens.

Back in  '91 (when I was broke) and didnt know the difference I got the "AN" amber lens unit for $75 from a junk yard (Potomac German Auto) and popped out the orange lens and swapped out the old inner reflector units and sanded and painted the reflector with "chrome paint".

Well, 25 years its still "OK"; although the internals are quite weathered, as it was parked in a car port for 15yrs, before restoration. Also notice the fit of the "AN" amber lens unit is very tight for a 250SL v. the "AC" which has a smaller/tapered plastic cover with angled rear to clear the screw tab.

The new "AC" was immaculate even after 10 years (stored inside) and reflectors were mirror like.

I ordered 2 bulbs from Scoot and they were NOS and crystal clear deep yellow bulbs.

I easily popped them in and they gave the lower reflector a very vintage racing/rallye style Yellow hue from just daylight reflecting thru.

Once installed, they give off a perfect cool YELLOW (not gold or amber) very bright light that illuminated the entire lower reflector housing.

Highy recommend as a tasteful / reversible mod that takes 1hr to swap.

I having been searching for 20+ years for a French Yellow bulb after seeing a photo of Yule Brenner standing next to a 300 SL Roadster in St. Tropez with a yellow flog-bulb in headight-unit.

Bravo Scott!!

Very Cool! I thought about doing this but never saw any photos and kind of forgot about it. Looks great!
Would actually be very functional where I live 2 miles from the coast. The fog can be thick as soup sometimes.
Any more bulbs available? I'll ask in the wanted section..

Its a really cool Yellow light / like a Le Mans race-car

Scoot the vendor who responded to this post (2 above) has them; he is in Cali and can paypal/ship to you for $40/pair in original boxes.

He said he had 10 (sets) left...so limited.

Also, the Dutch vendor in link at top has modern replacement for $3.95/ea. +s/h; the color may be more "hi tech/modern yellow" though...

Thanks Kayvan, I think I will give him a buzz. I already have installed a pair of NOS Bosch H4 7" (NLA) Headlights so I think these will definitely give the nose a "Rallye" look. Best part is easy to change out back to stock if desired.

Looks very nice. Really accents the grille. Mulholland drive eh. Funny story my grandfather told me long ago. He was driving his 190sl on Mullholland going pretty fast. (Must have been in the late 50's.) A Badger decided to cross the road and he swirved to avoid it. Somehow he got it up on 2 wheels and almost rolled it. When it came crashing back down both beauty rings on the right side rims shot off and ended up in the canyon. They're probably still down there somewhere.

Mullholland is not  for faint at heart !

It's just been repaved and is smooth as silk.

It's only 12 miles round trip from highland to Coldwater Cyn; I usually do am weekends or sunset. Let the auto work thru 2nd, 3rd, 4th up/down hills. Brakes get work out too on way down !

I always see epic 1960s million $ cars from Miuras, to Gullwings, 911 RS to that Ferrari and they are redlining them with screaming exhausts.

I actually prefer Kanan Rd to Kanan Dume Rd to Malibu. See Leno almost every Sunday and Seinfeld too...

Memories!  Mulholland, mid-50's, cool evenings, Annie & me.  Even in a '52 Dodge HT it was exciting! Even without fog lights.  Jon

FYI

I used Mothers Plastic Polish $5.99 to clean, polish and buff my headlight doors; takes a bit of elbow grease, but it works. Bottle says OK for headlight covers, tail lights, convertible windows (rub-wear), etc.

I'm a big fan of Nexus plastic polish, primarily #2 Nexus plastic polish.  Been using it for years.

The reflectors in the above pic are finished with gold color silvering. No yellow lens. Thats the way it would have been done with the US style doors in countries that have yellow fogs.

Ooops ?  :o
Can someone please enlighten me the sense of yellow fog lights or even yellow headlights?
What's the (stupid) sense other than being weird fancy ?  8)
Yellow light does not better illuminate the street or so,   :(
and even The French have long given up this (useless) system and switched over to white.   :-*

I myself do not see any good and reasonable reason for yellow fog lights.
But ... please tell me ....! ::)
Would love instead to install the late style  H3 fog light bulbs but don't know how to fit these with their small sockets into the old-fashioned bayonet fixing of the original fog lens ... :-X :o

Good stuff.
When I purchased my French market 67 250 SL back in 1991 it came with the yellow bulbs in the euro headlight housing. I don't know why I removed them. I am going to put them back in.

thanks,
