Rev counter noise
« on: February 12, 2017, 20:07:51 »
Hi all,
Every year after the winter lay up, the rev counter makes a very strange noise for a few weeks on start up.
It's like a screeching which gets louder as the revs increase.
Any suggestions as to how to rectify would be appreciated.

I had the same situation on my 67 230SL. As the temperature dips, the lubricant become viscous and not be able to lubricate the bearing. The high pitch of noise suggest that the bearing is bad. I had to send it out for service, the bearing was replaced and new lucubration was applied.
