Anyone know USA plate 4ZZK598 230 SL ?

Hi,

Real long shot here but ....does Anyone know a USA plate 4ZZK598 (that was until 2008) 230 SL , 1966 auto , papyrus white with black MB tex interior ?
This car was imported to Ireland in early 2008 and then 4 months later bought by a friend. I have just bought it off him but there is nothing on the car before 2008 except the USA plate that is registered in the import document.

I would be keen to know  if anyone has any knowledge of this car or a prior owner.

The number and letter sequence of the plate makes it most likely a California license plate. Sorry its not much but its a start to narrow it down.  Hope that helps.

My friend said it was originally California but he wasn't sure.
Anyway to get a name linked to a plate .... But maybe that is police business only ?
