I grew up near Somerleyton Hall and my car resides about 15 miles from there in the winter months...
Nice article and as ever with Petrolicious, beautifully photographed.

I do always find it odd that the 230 is written up as being nippier than the "heavy" 280. Not driven a 230 but I guess comparing a non PS manual with a PS/Auto in any guise is comparatively a lot of weight to move... (125kg difference being hauled by an additional 20bhp) and keeping a manual high in the rev range is easier...

I enjoyed reading this for 2 reasons :

1. Because I am restoring a 4 speed (280SL) which I look forward to driving when its done (6 months if I'm lucky),and

2. The comparison to my recent purchase (a 1967 Alfa "Duetto") which actually arrives in 2 days time (from the UK) - its been a long wait and I hope to drive it in about 1 week's time after customs clearance, etc.

all good :)
