Boot lock issue
« on: January 20, 2017, 02:25:27 »
My boot lock is not functioning correctly unless change the angle of the inner boot catch (see photo where I have used washers to space it out).
If I take the washers out then I can't unlock the boot because the angled bit on the lock is hitting the side of the boot release mechanism.
I think it is wear that is causing it but I was wondering if there are any other fixes for it?

Is this the top part on the lid or the bottom part on the body?
Photo is not clear.
Both parts are adjustable to an extent.
If still not working out, then a body man will have to come in and straighten out the bodywork.

It's the bottom part on the body...

The body looks straight to me. I think it is wear in  the part I've photographed.  There is a pin that's making a wear spot where the lock rests. I think I could put a small collar of metal over this to fix the problem or I think I could reduce the length of the lock part that engages this.
I'll try to get more photos to help explain...

The bottom lock looks OK to me.
Perhaps the wear is on the moving catch.
How about the latch on the boot lid?
Is that good?
Any picture of it?

The boot lid catch can be pulled downwards again, if it is bent upwards.
The lid is aluminum and dents easily.

Hi Walter
The problem is with the keyed lock engaging the opening mechanism.  The boot lid closing is not involved.

Here are some better pictures that should help explain the problem.

Ahh, now I see the issue.
There is too much of a gap at the bottom.
If you look at your picture, where you put the text about the washers used to space out the mechanism.
Can you pull the metal (inner trunk metal) outwards a bit to correct the gap?
Or the plate of the catch is bent outwards.  Will have to be bent back gently with some heat(cast metal is never easy to bend back, without heat)
