It looks like a 220SE fuel injection setup, possibly a complete engine out of a 110 Fintail, could also be a 300SE engine. My money is on a 220SE.
There was never a 230SE engine, therefor the 230SL engine is very rare and irreplaceble, especially the cylinder head.

I's day someone took the injection pump from their fintail and swapped it to the Pagoda.

Nope ...

Chris is right here ...
it's clearly a 220 SE engine, an M127III sedan's engine. Can't see for sure whether the tach cable is attached or not... With the regular two-plunger fuel injection system.
Clearly no 300 SE M189 engine which is much more massive than the M127.
(BTW, never heard of SO who put a 300 SE engine into a Pagoda ...).

A 220 SE swap was pretty common "in the old days" when a 230 engine was broken, in the need of massive repair or etc.

The shape of the intake manifold/plenum is different as well

Ok, 220SE, thanks. I had noticed in the video that it sounded different to a normal 230SL - not as nice.

There was a similar set-up on display at the Legends of the Autobahn show last year in Carmel. Two plunger pump and all. It was a different car, one in yellow.

Yep, the ol' two plunger pump with the fuel distributions blocks on the intake. Definitely from a Fintail car but could have also been a 220SE coupe or cab. My '60 Ponton W128 220SE has a similar injection set up. You want to talk about a different intake? Here you go...doesn't get much crazier than this. The Ponton cars had this style intake and then they changed on the Fintail. The hood height was one reason and more engine bay room on the sides could have been another.

Yes, definitely a 220SE engine. Looks like they may have used the original pagoda intake because the engine cross-over linkage rod is at an incorrect angle!!  The critical engine linkages would have to be all wrong.
