Windshield wiper linkage under dash

I'm pulling the windshield wiper post on driver side. The problem that I' having is the linkage is getting hung up on the bottom of the dash. How can I undo the linkage from the shaft?

Good news is that I will not have to break any linkage to the post, instead I discovered that behind the windshield defogger vent is four 10mm bolts that hold the post shaft. Once the vent has been removed then you can pull the bolts and then push the post and shaft together and remove the them together. Be careful when removing the vents as they are very fragile with age.
