1972 W114 250c - speedometer cable location
« on: July 01, 2017, 23:19:57 »
Hi - in addition to my W113 I have a 1972 250C (W114) without a speedometer cable. I bought the part and easily found the location to screw it into the instrument cluster and route it through the hole to under the car. But I cannot figure out where it attaches to the transmission? Any pictures or explanations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jay

I took a look at the parts manual for the 250 C, and it shows the speedometer gear at the rear of the manual transmission.

Warning - assumption coming - would it be the same type of set up as the Pagoda? Where there is a clamping type connection at the rear of the transmission where the drive end fits into. There is a half-moon shaped piece that fits into the concave portion of the drive end of the speedo cable.

The photos are from the 113 manual, but it should give an idea of the connection. (Please excuse the gravity defying orientation)

Thanks a lot for the reply. It was really helpful to hear about it attaching at the rear of the transmission. For some reason I had been hunting around at the front of the transmission. Everything connected now and in perfect working order. All the best. Jay
