Headlight Assistance Needed
« on: July 14, 2017, 21:23:29 »

Like so many of us, the top round portion of my AJ headlight is cracked
Does anyone have a method to remove the headlights from the chrome ring? I heard using a heat gun, hot water, etc
Also, I want to place new headlights in my existing ring--do I epoxy the piece back in? Do I hot glue them?

Regards

Hello Steven,

I've found that a soldering iron with a suitable tip works well to to melt and mend the plastic both in headlights and taillights. Works fine when removing as well as
installing the plastic lenses or covers.

This thread has some useful tips, both about separating the plastic from the chrome, and about repairing the plastic:

If you post pictures of your headlight door, where it is damaged, you might be able to get more specific pointers.
