Engine Temp Termostat/Display
« on: July 15, 2017, 09:26:06 »
Hi Everyone.

I am restoring my 230 SL and one issu I have is that the thermostat for the engine temp in the centre console is broken.  The wire between the gague and the thermostat on the engine block is damage beyond repair.

I am looking for a new one and wondered if anyone knows if the one from a W111 is the same fit and has anyone sucessfully swapped them?

Thanks

Mark.

It is a capillary tube not a wire. Once broken, the gas escapes and the gauge is dead. It can be repaired but is expensive. A gauge from a W111 or a W110 finback Mercedes sedan gauge is very close. A simple modification trim on the face makes it look, fit and function perfect. New W113 temp. gauges are still available from the dealer also.

Thanks both.

I think I will have a look at modding one from a w111 first and if that fails at least I know i can get one from stickandrudderman.

Cheers

Mark.
