New Model Water Pump Housing
« on: September 02, 2017, 12:28:21 »
I ordered a replacement water pump housing from Mercedes in Irvine. When I got it I saw that it had two extra mounting holes that my original does not have and that my engine does not have tapped holes to accept mounting bolts for. I called Thomas and he said that the new one he sent is the only one available. So, I've installed it.

I have added a picture of the old and new (New one is at the bottom). Has anyone run into this and if so, is there any issue with using the new one?

Thanks,
Roland

Looks like a new design without anything new. How much was that thing, if you don't mind my asking.

I get $75.00 for used ones ( when I have them ) so that sounds about right.

I just installed a new one as well.  I gather the extra holes are for another “W” model such as a W115.  I was glad I replaced it, as my old one had deep pitting where the pump propeller ride against.  I’m guessing that must be caused by old coolant that got too acidic?   Anyone have another explanation???
