manual gearbox selection
« on: October 15, 2017, 19:53:22 »
Hello,

I' rebuilding my gearbox and have two questions for the champions of that stuff:

1- Selector spring: the selector lever was in the lower part of the "G-shaped" spring, which means it woud push the lever on the 3rd to 4th gear line. Actually on the car you couldn't really feel the lever being spring loaded laterally, but that sounds strange. Any exerience on that?

2- Selector plate: How to tighten the nuts retaining the selector plate? They just have on spring washer, I guess you should tighten the nut until the plate doesn't more then unscrew but by how much? Quarter of a turn?, half a turn? a complete turn? Coldn't fine the information in the workshop manual.

Thanks,
Didier.

There is a detailed description from a member doing a manual transmission rebuild in Pagoda Notes Vol 3 no 1 and 2. This content (all past issues of Pagoda Notes) is available to full members - another reason for joining as a full member.
