Bosch Euro Headlights

I have heard from several sources that the molds Boch uses for their lenses are showing signs of fatigue and creating imperfections in the lens.  Some have described the look as hair line cracks.  If so could this be another addition to the NLA parts list for the 113?

that`s correct. Daimler Chrysler`s official
answer at the meeting of Mercedes-Benz Club
"Typreferenten" was, that they are working
on that problem.

I´m german and so I do not know all
short forms. What does it mean - NLA ?

Does it mean "no longer available ?"

If so, I can tell You, that this part
is one of the most sold parts. They
always will deliver it.

Yes, NLA means No Longer Available
NOS means New, Old Stock (brand new part on shelf for years)
POS means Piece of S#!t

I'm sure there are many more acronyms.

A side from the trouble with the lens. Does anyone know how to wire the front side marker lights up to these lights? I just ordered some from our resident Caliber parts man Tom Hanson.

Bobby, have you received your lights from Tom at Caliber?  Let us know how the lenses look.  

There is one guy on ebay that sells lenses and describes the imperfections on the lens.  I also spoke with a 113 enthusiast that purchased a set and described them as having what looks like tiny cracks.  Of couse thher aren't any cracks  but the imperfections give it that sort of appearance.

Contact Mr. Daniel Stern, I believe you've worked with him before?  He will get you the correct upgraded bulbs.

Going from memory, the little "covers" over the bulbs do just pop right out.  They're just held in with the tension of the part and tabs.  Look at the light from the back side.  The main bulb socket just turns and comes out.  Also, I recommend turning the adjustment screws while the headlight is out so you understand how the reflectors move/pivot to aim the light beam.

This is not my day. I took apart the USA headlight system and all the components. I could not get the Bosch light to fit in the lower half of the headlight bucket. I tried to feed the side marker light harness back into its gromet and that did not help. I did notice two wires one brown one black that are grounded by a bolt that the headlight could be catching on. My question is do I undue this and what is it for.

I bought & installed a set of Euro lights from Tom about a year ago. He warned about the lens imperfections, but they are so minor as to be practically invisible. Dan Stern helped me with bulbs & I have hi/low beams, directional signals but no function of parking lights yet. I love mine!    -JP-  '66 230SL (Euro-Italian)

Hey Bob,
They are obviously earth wires. If the bolt is too long maybe a shorter one would suffice.
The fog lights go on the bottom and the indicators are on the top. Completely upside down to the USA model lights.

Use the dome shaped glass and not the flat stuff. It breaks very easily but the curved glass will throw off stones and light impacts.

I know I have the correct early dome lights but just wondered what the others look like ?
