Headrest when recovering seats
« on: February 26, 2018, 16:43:52 »
I checked the tech manual, and just completed a review of 45 threads attempting to see what others have done, with out luck (or I missed the answers).

I am recovering the seats, so the replacement of the very worn original leather of the headrests is required to match. The adhesive of the "horse hair" to the metal of the headrest has long since failed, so I was able to remove the structure with the rods (also yielding a very floppy headrest). My fear is if I get the original horse hair out, will it go back in to a new cover, and survive with enough "fluff" to fill the new leather cover? Should I proceed moving over the existing stuffing, or is there a recommended different direction (an Internet search produced a couple aftermarket foam options)? The supplier of the covers does not have an option listed on their website (GAT).

Thank you in advance

I ended up buying foam replacements on EBay $90 for the pair. The original horse hair headrests were just too worn for my liking when I recovered them.

Update, I had to call GAT with another question, asked if they had anything. They dont advertise it, but do have a 3rd party solution, priced in the same area as what you got. I went this route.

Thank you
