230SL Engine block to head query
« on: February 23, 2018, 09:14:28 »
Hi all,

Can anyone confirm if a head (no. 230/250A 180-015-33-01), would fit a 230SL block?

Regards

Hi, Steven,

I think you've got casting numbers.

A 180 engine would not have fuel injection.

Thanks Naj,

Yes this makes sense, I thought the numbers didnt tie up with ones in Technical manual.

Thanks.

Yes you need a 250SE or SL head with a W129 number. The #180 heads are from carbureted engines the chain galleries on these are not as wide as the fuel injected heads and will not fit.
