pistons

I am rebuilding my 230sl engine. Other than the classic center where can I find pistons for my car? I am most likely using 1st over pistons. I also need to find the diameter of the piston to give to the machinist. Does anyone also have recommendations on a good place for an oil pump and cam gear?

Thanks!

Would need to know how many rings are on your pistons, the width of those rings, casting number on your connecting rods, and piston pin diameter. There are 3 different pistons used on 230SL engines. I have a set on 3rd version pistons in stock. 3 ring 25mm pin.

I would not have the machinist do any work on the block until he has the pistons in hand regardless or whether you know the size beforehand. All sizes are plus or minus a certain amount from the given sizes--engineering tolerances. The cylinders need to be bored precisely to the diameter of the piston plus the required side clearance. This is best done when the actual pistons that will be fitted are in hand and can be individually fitted with the proper clearances.
