Steering wheel in original design - but smaler diameter

Hello from Germany
I have found a producer for steering wheels for 230SL, 250SL and 280SL in ivory or black. The diameter ist reduced from 42.5 cm to 38 cm. Beside that a exzentric conversion adapter is available to fix the steering wheel 3 cm higher to get more space between the seat and the steering wheel.
The price for a brandnew steering wheel is 550 EURO plus shipping.

Picture 1 shows the difference between the original and the Repro wheel
Picture 2 shows the new steering wheel in my 280 SL without an adapter ( which is only necessary for very tall drivers.

Hello,
This steering wheel is for the late 250SL and 280SL's.
Early 250SL's and 230SL's had the holes in the horizontal bars for the horn ring.
Do you make those as well?

I see in your photo that you have a centre arm rest and housing,
Did you make them ? or are they  available from a supplier ?

We make the steering wheels for 230 SL, 250 SL and 280 SL in Germany
They also fit for other Mercedes Models.

Hi Alfred, just a few questions. I notice in the photos that the center star emblem is blacked out. Is this the way it is on the shipped unit? If not can a MB star emblem be swapped into it by the end user? Also, what is included? (Horn ring, center pad, horn contact?)
Also will it accept a MB horn ring? (Some US versions use a satin chrome finish and will need to be changed out)
Please give a little more info on the eccentric adapter.

Hi Tyler,
The above pictures show a complete steering wheel.
I only supply the steering wheel without the hornring, the central plate and the horn equipment. that means you have to disassamble your old steering wheel and mount these parts on the new steering wheel. That takes about 10 minutes.  The delivered part is the pure steering wheel in ivory or black ( eather for a 230SL - old model or 250/280SL - new model) like shown in picture Wheelcenter.jpg.
The Mercedes logo was erased by me because i fear that Mercedes will get me in some problems because of coyright (using a mercedes copyright logo).
I attach pictures of the eccentrix adapter. This adapter moves the steering wheel up by about 1.5 cm.
In my car with the new steeringwheel ( the test model) the distance between the seat and the lowest part of the steering wheel are 17 cm. If that would not be enought you could set the wheel about 1.5 cm higher to get more space between the seat and the wheel. The disadvantage is the fact that the adapeter ia about 3.5 cm thick and so the steering wheel comes closer to the driver by that distance.
It actually makes only sense for corpulent drivers.

Just back from Techno Classica Essen where I saw these steering wheels on a booth.  I ordered one for my 230 SL in color " ivory" with the eccentric hub, looking forward to install stand notice the difference ( I'm 1m90  ;)  )
