Cooling Tank Level Label for 230SL and Early 250SL
« on: December 15, 2013, 00:58:31 »
I saw quite a few questions on engine overheating and what the water level should be in the COOLANT TANK. I came across this label and it shows 4 cm from the top to the cold water level. I thought I share this with you including the label

The Description denotes it to be for the 230SL & Early 250SL Coolant Tank. If nothing else it shows us from what point we should measure the cold water level.

I recommend that each of us check there manual since it only mentions the 230 and early 250SL

Label/Decal Translation;-

 Kaltwasserstand: ---> Cold water level

Überdruck-Kühlsystem ---> Over-pressure cooling system)

Deckel mit Kennzahl 100 Öffnen nur unterhalb 90 C Überdruck auf Raste I abblasen lassen. ---> Only open the lid with code 100 when temperature is below 90 C let positive pressure bleed off with catch at position I.

Schließen auf Anschlag (Raste II) ---> Close to stop (notch II)

Does anyone know what the measurement for a 280 sl should be? Or is it the same 4 cm ?

Hello everyone here, i am filling my coolant tank and doesn't know the right level in the tank. I have read somewhere that it is 4 cm from the top of the tank for an early 250 and wonder if it is the same for a 280 ?

I usually fill the 280SL coolant tank from about 1/2 to 2/3 full.

We had a pressure gauge on the 230SL today and it never ran more than 7 PSI even when it started to run hotter while waiting in line to enter the show so I know everything is OK.
