locating soft top compartment mat
« on: October 31, 2017, 01:07:18 »
Anyone know where I can source a new vinyl mat for my soft top compartment? I've been looking and haven't had any luck yet.

Thanks

JohnK, I am in the process of replacing my liner and saw that there are 2 variations offered by Authenticclassics:

1. vinyl covered hardboard
2. vinyl with fibre backing

Not sure which is closest original. Which one did you get and would you mind sharing your experience with the installation?

Blackjack, The liner in the link above (fibre backing) has a near identical pebble finish as the original liner. The second offering (hardboard) is a less expensive alternative but is a generic vinyl and has a smooth texture.

My concern with the fibre backing is that due to the extra thickness the soft top might not compress sufficiently in the compartment to close the lid without a problem, but that might be insignificant. Which one do you have and if with fibre backing what kind of adhesive did you use?

John,
the pebbled vinyl used on Porsche Targa tops is very similar to the original. Check with upholstery shops in your area they might have it (that's how I got my replacement) or call worlduph.com and ask for a sample. I believe they call it "Levant Grain Topping".
This vinyl could be reasonable match also and it is self-adhesive: https://vvividshop.com/products/2017-vvivid-fine-grain-leather
