Auto Transmission Filter Has Changed
« on: July 14, 2018, 11:34:47 »
The picture titled "Filter" is what came from Mercedes UK with the auto transmission service pack 1122700098. The other pic is what we show on the SL113.Org website and was what came off my car. When I quoted the part number on this item, Mercedes couldn't find it. Although completely different, the new one fits, although the outrageously expensive service pack does not come with the skinny cork circular gasket.

Old news to many of you, I'm sure, but this did cause me a lot of confusion at the time !

Hi,
here are the correct spare part numbers for 280SL.

000 277 00 95-MB
112 277 03 95-MB
113 270 00 95-MB
GTIN-Code 4011558260804
H1810/1 Mann

Yours looks like a servicekit for early models.

See pic below of the Transmission Filter which I replaced on my 280SL.
Part no. 000 277 00 95-MB, as per WRe's post.
Make sure you also have the U-shaped rubber piece.

FWIW here's a link to a post I made regarding Transmission filter and Transmission mount change.

Also have look a this link posted by WRe on the same subject:

Groan...thanks everyone. How frustrating. I spoke to MB UK on three occasions about this and in the end, on their advice, fitted the part they sent. Their classic MB person is away for a couple of days and in the meantime I've emailed him sections of our correspondence. They can jolly well refund me for the expensive MB 236.6 fluid I'll have wasted !

I think that filter was changed years ago. I still find original screens in some of them now and then.

In the meantime, while I sort this out, I don't suppose I'm going to do any damage if I drive the car (?) Shifts fine.

Sleek Lemur, they gave you the wrong part, I think.

In EPC, when you go to 113044 (or if you put in the whole VIN), you have the filter replacement set number shadowed on the picture (means it is not meant for this car, which is probably wrong). Then you need to remove the filters from parts search (which the MB guys probably did). When you do that, you have two numbers for filter replacement sets: 1122700098 (which you got) and 1132700098 which you most likely should have received (as per enclosed pictures). The number they gave you is "Up to..." certain gear box number. The number you should have received is "As of..." certain gearbox number.

I bought the 1132700098 last year (for 280Sl, 1970) and it is as on the pictures we know, comes with the other items you need (gasket, seal rings, etc.).

Certainly the above holds if you have the gearbox type that you are supposed to have.

I am not sure, cannot comment on the other numbers provided (0002770095 and 1132700095) as EPC does not recognize them.

Hey, Thanks Pawel66. This is all very clear now. Frustrating, as I gave MB UK my chassis number when I was checking the part. I'll stick to the SL Shop in future!
