Which ATF for 1965 W112 Fintail?
« on: October 22, 2018, 14:12:36 »
Hi,

the technical manual says "type A" but that means nothing to me.  What type of ATF do I use to fill the auto trans?

thanks

Hi Scott,

I use Dexron III in my 300 SE Lang automatic. It is supposed to be backward compatible with earlier GM dexron atf oils such as GM Type A suffix A.
Think I read somewhere that the original Type A was largely based on whale-oil,
And was subsequently substituted with mineral oils and additives.
Dexron III seems to do the job just fine.
