People who paint wiring harnesses when they paint a car so whomever restores the car at a later date has to spend hours getting the paint back off should be shot.

I have been the victim of that a number of times (shudder...) I loathe that practice.

Thanks Hans, yes I did the dry ice a couple of summers ago. I now have to get some rust repaired (that was thriving under the undercoating) and then proper underbody paint. By the time it's all done, a lot of time, money and effort.

Black tar... I think I had one guy who had used actual asphalt, it was like the roofing sheets stuff it had granules(small rocks) in it and it was covering the whole underside lines and all.  He also had sprayed I think expanding foam in between panels. I was soooo tempted to track him down and make him try and take it all off.

Mine was so bad underneath that my friend that did the welding would bog down and stop at the point where there was tar to be removed away from seams or many spot welds to grind so I would fly up there for a couple 14 hour days with a grinder and a cupped wire brush and clear a path for him to work.  Luckily i didn't have to take it all off as we sent it to be baked and E-coated but getting that stuff off was horrid.

The wiring harness is coming along nicely.  I tested a few areas using paint stripper and after finding out the stripper didn't effect the plastic sheaths or wire insulation things are flying along.
